like the pony hawk idea...but spray it with different colors...gel will not show to well in your dark brown hair..also u could have some tease it for you and it would stand out all over and tie something on the ends...Good Luck

I've not idea of what "medium length" is by your definition.

If it's long enough for corn rows:

braid in glow-in-the-dark ribbons or threads and maybe glow-in-the-dark charms as well.

braid in strands of Lucky Charms [TM] or other brightly-colored cereal.

braid in gummy worms (make your own gummies with gelatin and food-coloring without sugar).

For shorter hair, get plastic ants or flies and dip them in corn syrup or honey and stick them around in your hair. It's kinder than most hair-sprays.

Sprinkle hologram or Mylar glitter in your hair after spritzing with diluted honey-water.

If your idea of medium length is long enough to draw up into a ponytail (either high or low), get a fake hair "switch" and twist it into a figure 8 and use bobby pins to secure it vertically with a high do or horizontally (infinity symbol) with a low do. The "over the top" is using an unclothed Barbie-type or Ken-type doll as a hair stick, with the middle of the 8 concealing the risk鑼?bits.

Get some super strong gel and spike it really really high. if anybody messes with you, you can hurt them with your hair!
