Bouncy curls(african american girl)?

Is your hair relaxed? If not, you'll probably need to straighten it first. Hot curlers are actually better for bouncy curls but if you want to use a curling iron, it's best to just wrap the hair around the barrel. Make sure your hair is completely dry and straight.

Try using a waxy pomade or a light gel (you might not want to use one with water as the first ingredient, though). Spread it lightly and evenly on a two-inch section of hair, comb through, and wrap around your curling iron. You want to hold for about 30 seconds then slide your iron out. For a great hold, pin the curl to your head with a bobby pin until it's completely cooled. Keep repeating until all of your hair is pinned and cooled, pop out the pins, shake it out, and you're good to go.
